MEETING OF THE CHAIRMAN OF KHATLON REGION WITH DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS
Today, June 18, a meeting of the Coordination Council of Development Partners was held in the hall of the executive body of government of the Khatlon region, chaired by the Chairman of the Khatlon region, Davlatali Said.
The meeting was attended by members of the Coordination Council of Development Partners, heads and representatives of international organizations and other development partners, heads of specialized regional organizations and offices.
The purpose of the event is to discuss issues that need to be addressed, evaluate the results of project implementation, determine further development priorities and attract the attention of development partners in order to increase funds for the implementation of the country’s strategic goals and priorities.
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Khatlon region, Davlatali Said, with an opening speech.
The Chairman of the Khatlon region emphasized that the executive authorities of the Khatlon region, despite the ongoing events in the global economy and the negative impact of external factors, in particular, the spread of infectious diseases, the exacerbation of geopolitical conflicts, sanctions, trade conflicts, as well as the consequences of climate change, as a consequence the effective implementation of economic reforms, the implementation of strategies and programs at the local level, including the successful implementation of the Program for Economic and Social Development of the Khatlon Region for 2021-2025, has maintained a positive trend in the development of regional leaders.
– We can say with satisfaction that together with you we will solve the main issues of the economic and social sphere of the region, especially education, healthcare, industry, transport, agriculture, supply of quality seeds, breeding of high-breed animals, improvement of the situation. land reclamation, pest control, housing and communal services, supply of drinking water to the population, taking all measures and timely implementation of strategies and programs at the republican, sectoral and local levels, relevant points of the minutes of the meeting of the National Development Council under the leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon which took place on June 13, 2024 with the participation of development partners. We also consider it necessary to discuss issues of ways to increase human potential, introduce modern digital technologies in public administration, build intercity and intracity roads in the region and agree with you on further steps of cooperation. in all areas of economic and social development of the region,” added the Chairman of the Khatlon region, Davlatali Said.
It was said that the contribution of development partners, including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Islamic Development Bank, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), German Development Bank, The Saudi Development Fund, the United Nations Development Program, the International Fund for Agricultural Development and other international organizations are of great importance in the economic and social progress of the Khatlon region and the implementation of local level programs.
As noted, to date, 44 state investment projects have been implemented in the Khatlon region with the involvement of foreign capital, within the framework of which more than $974.6 million have been implemented. funds for the purchase of goods, work and services in the fields of education, healthcare, agriculture, irrigation, housing and communal services, energy, transport, ecology, emergency situations and tourism.
At the same time, a speech was heard from the Chairman of the Coordination Council of Development Partners, Head of the World Bank Group Ozan Sevimli on the contribution of development partners and national goals and priorities.
Chairman of the Khatlon region Davlatali Said called on development partners to make a greater contribution to the implementation of sustainable development in the extremely sensitive and rapidly changing conditions of the global economy in order to implement further development priorities of the region.
